We heard great things about this place in the heart of Templebar in Dublin.  Say hello to Beards and Barnets! When we popped in and straight away were taken back by how funky, cool, and professional this place was. During out time in the shop we spoke to Aido. Beards and Barnets How long is Beards & Barnets open?  It is open just over a year now, last March we opened.   How long have you been a barber for? 10 years now I've been cutting hair and I also am in a band too. (Wounds check them out) Aida Beards & Barnets How many bearded men would you see coming into the shop in a week? It is normally between 30 and 50. It is normally closer to the 50 though.  A lot of lads ask us how to shape their beard, or for general advice on caring for their beard which we are more than happy to help with.   Do you think beards are on the way out? No, not at all. There was a time when beards were deemed a bit of a 'hipster' thing. Some men even shaved off their beards thinking it wasn't a good thing to have. Now I think many have seen that beards were around a lot longer than a 'hipster' term and some men who come into our shop have a beard for many years, from artists, musicians, regular office workers, even solicitors now have beards. Beards are timeless.   You have a beard yourself, is it good to have one in  a band? I actually grew mine as I was on the road for around 4 to 5 months. If you can imagine a bus full of lads can get a tad smelly so it was easier to not shave, it almost has a Charlie Manson look about it! Do you do beard trims? Yes, we usually spend around 45 minutes on beards. We was hit, style it, we don't just run an electric razor over it. We like to get a scissors to it and make sure it suits the customers face.   How many staff members are in Beards & Barnets.  There are 5 of us now, we just got a new starter recently who is already doing really well and is up on beards too! beards&Barnets Finally, how did the name Beards & Barnets come about? A customer actually came up with it. It can be a confusing one on some of the passing tourists who are not sure what a barnet is but the name is great and has stuck ever since.
